Although it covers an area of only 316 km square, Malta has a population of approximately 450,000 inhabitants and is one of the countries with the highest population density in the world. The largest cities in the country are Birkirkara, Qormi, Mosta, Zabbar and Saint Paul’s Bay. Valletta, the capital, is not even in top ten cities in terms of population, with a population of approximately 7,000 people.

Although is a small country, Malta abounds in tourist attractions, of which nine were included in UNESCO World Heritage. These are historic city Valletta (the capital), Hal Saflieni hypogeum and not less than seven prehistoric temples. Of course, these are not the only things worth seeing. Cathedrals in Malta have a great beauty, museums are very interesting and beaches are downright amazing.
Hal Saflieni hypogeum is a monument located in town of Paola and is an underground building dating back for more than 5,000 years. Initially, it was built to be used as a sanctuary, but was later turned into a cemetery. If you want to visit this hypogeous, my recommendation is to make your reservation in advance, because the number of tourists allowed to enter is limited to 60 per day.
